Rudy Champagne and his daughter Darlene both regretted not getting their high school diplomas. Darlene took courses was about to receive her diploma when she mentioned her 90-year-old father's desire to get his diploma to Deb Bomaster, director of Maranacook Adult Education. Deb Bomaster knew that WWII veterans who interrupted their educations to serve were entitled to receive diplomas by law. She quickly arranged a graduation ceremony and reception for the father and daughter, which was held Monday, December 20. The inspiring story of the four-time Purple Heart recipient and his adult daughter was picked up by the local newspaper, the Kennebec Journal. Congratulations Darlene and Rudy and thank you Rudy for your brave service to our country from 1940-1945.
