Take Fabulous Photos of the Flora and Fauna in Your World

This course shows you how to take beautiful photos of flowers, plants, and wildlife. Four easy-to-follow videos demonstrate and give examples of each of the topics which include: Using focus, exposure and HDR features to capture the beauty ofyour surroundings; ways to avoid blurry images; tips for composing your images; and editing options that turn so-so images into stunning images. In addition to the instructional videos, we have several articles with usefull information to build your repertoire of photographic strategies. Nature Investigators for Homeschool Families

In this class, older students will gain a deeper level of understanding and appreciation for natural communities and ecosystems. In particular, we will explore concepts relating to habitats, forest succession, wetlands, and biological adaptations. Classes will include guided group activities, investigations using the scientific process, teacher and student led demonstrations, and explorations of forest, field, and aquatic habitats. If there is interest, additional home study ideas, activities, and resources can be provided! 

Ages 8 - 13 with an Adult Caregiver(s)

In addition to being a classroom teacher for many years, Nicole was the Director of the Children’s and Family Programs of the Audubon Naturalist Society in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and the Director of the Summer Camp Nature Programs at Montshire Museum of Science in Norwich, VT. Most recently, she was Director of Maple Tree Community School in Readfield, Maine. She is excited to reconnect families together and share the joy of nature with multigenerational families!

In this class, you and your young explorer will learn about animal habitats, life cycles, animal and plant adaptations, aquatic life, decomposition, and conservation of Maine’s forest, field, pond, and stream habitats. Each spring-themed class will feature a fun and engaging lesson, guided exploration and activity time, story, movement, and craft. Spring is a wonderful time to get out and explore nature all around us!
