Be a literacy tutor, learn skills needed and time commitments. Techniques and strategies for tutoring adult learners in basic reading, writing, philosophy and approaches to adult learning and engaging English learners in culturally respectful ways. Help learners with digital literacy, financial, and health literacy. Understand a learner-centered approach driven by each learner’s goals.
Participants will be provided “Tutor, Eighth Edition” that includes research-based and innovative ways to help deliver instruction and facilitate effective tutoring. Other informational materials will be provided. There is NO cost for materials.

From the Instructor:
As the Executive Director of Literacy Volunteers of Greater Augusta, I have taught training in one-on-one tutoring using researched based materials from ProLiteracy for over seven (7) years. I have attended national conferences and workshops in adult education both in person and on-line. I have attended training webinars conducted by the Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE), in-person workshops on family literacy and engagement through the National Center for Families Learning (NCFL) and in-person workshops conducted through the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy.
